Treat yourself to a cosy and nourishing detox this January, combining a cleansing sauna with a relaxing sound bath. It’s a lovely way to spend a Sunday in the new year. We meet at 1:45pm to settle in, then we have private use of the Sauna from 2-3. Following this we walk up the stairs and get comfortable for a 60 minute sound bath, including gongs, hangs, drums, chimes and many more instruments. Working creatively and spontaneously around structured narratives, we build a collage of sound which is unique every time. We’ll finish up at 4:15 and you are welcome to hang out in the church till you feel ready to float home into the sunset.
Our venue is the Finnish church in London, 3 mins walk from Rotherhithe overground station. The concept of a sauna originates from Finnish traditional culture and this one has been recently refurbished so it’s clean and toasty warm. The church is a peaceful space which is aligned with the atmosphere we wish to create. It also has a cafe selling tea/coffee and other Finnish treats.
We will provide:
– Lavender eye pillows for all
– Coconut oil for moisturising skin after the Sauna
Please bring with you:
– Yoga mat, blanket and anything else you need to be comfortable in the sound bath.
– Warm clothes (don’t be cold on the way home!)
– Large water bottle (essential for the Sauna)
– Swimming costume (In order to create a safe environment for all, we run a clothes on policy in the sauna).
Directions from Rotherhithe Overground station:
Walk out of Rotherhithe overground Station and cross the road. Take Old Railway Walk which is opposite to the left. Take first right onto Albion Street and then the Finnish Church is on your right opposite Renworth street. Ring the bell and the receptionist will let you in and we’ll be there
Sonic Bloom was founded in January 2017 by Kevin Davidson and Zoot Lynam, both multi-instrumentalists and performers with over 40 years experience between them.
